Gemmipass - Sunnbüel
The historical path from Gemmipass to Sunnbüel is the only well-known Alpine pass in Switzerland that is also walkable in winter.
In the past, muleteers also carried goods over the snow-covered passes in winter, which nowadays are mostly closed at this time of year. For several years now, the Gemmi can be crossed again from the pass height to Sunnbüel, and it is worth it.
Whether you start in Kandersteg and end the hike in Leukerbad in the thermal baths or walk from Leukerbad to Kandersteg, we leave that up to you. The crossing of the Gemmi takes on average 3-4 hours, and the path is wide and groomed. A stop at the mountain hotel Schwarenbach is recommended for lunch.
