My Leukerbad AG continues to develop positively
Financial year 2024/25
Leukerbad, 09/10/2025 – In the 2024/25 financial year, My Leukerbad AG achieved record sales for the fifth consecutive year. The winter season was one of the most successful in recent years. With the founding of Leukerbad Marketing AG, membership of the international Indy Ski Pass network and further tourism development in Torrent, the destination continues to pursue its chosen path.
With turnover of CHF 30.6 million, My Leukerbad AG, including LLB bus operations, generated more than CHF 30 million for the first time. Excluding public bus operations, My Leukerbad AG achieved turnover of CHF 24.5 million, an increase of 8.2% compared with last year's results. It improved its results in all areas of the business. Leukerbad Therme generated sales of CHF 7.1 million and Torrent-Bahnen CHF 6.8 million. Both were thus the most important sales drivers. The results from the three catering establishments Rinderhütte, Therme and Sportarena are also encouraging, with a further significant improvement of 24.2% compared to the previous year. With 750,878 overnight stays, the destination increased its previous year's result by 1.2% and achieved its highest figure since the coronavirus pandemic. During the summer and autumn months, the classic Gemmi hike, popular events such as the Summer Acts and the Ländler Weekend, and new products such as the Deleeschi Flow Trail on Torrent attracted numerous guests to the destination. The 2024/25 winter season was also very successful: Leukerbad Therme increased admissions by 12.2% and Torrent-Bahnen recorded an 11.2% increase in first-time admissions. One important driver was the renewed growth in customers from the Magic Pass network, which covers multiple destinations. Overall, Torrent Railways achieved 215,038 first-time admissions in the last financial year, significantly exceeding the target of 200,000 first-time admissions. Roland Zegg, outgoing Chairman of the Board of Directors of My Leukerbad AG, emphasises: ‘The very good results from all business units are not only encouraging from an operational point of view, but also show that the strategic decisions and investments made in recent years were the right ones. We intend to continue this growth course with further investments and further consolidate Leukerbad's market positioning.’
New offerings on the mountain with international seal of approval
In the 2024/25 financial year, My Leukerbad AG successfully implemented various projects. It opened the café and merchandise shop ‘The Edge’ in the Rinderhütte on Torrent and extended the flow trail on Torrent, thereby specifically expanding its offerings for cyclists. With the new Thermi adventure trail, it also created a new, innovative offering for families. The developments on the mountain have also been recognised by the international expert jury of the Ski Area Test for the 2025 summer and autumn season. The destination of Leukerbad received several awards:
- Adventure and Family Mountain Summer 2025
- Wellness and Spa Award (Leukerbad Therme)
- Children's Land Trophy (Thermi Adventure Trail)
- Ideas and Implementation (Thermi Adventure Trail)
- International Summer Seal of Quality (Bike-Trotti-Trails)
Pulse check: General attitude towards tourism
Between April and September 2025, Torrent-Bahnen Leukerbad-Albinen AG conducted a survey on the tourist development of the destination among locals, owners of second homes and guests. A total of 564 people took part in the digital survey. 91% of participants see tourism as a key economic factor and 72% would like to see year-round tourism. In terms of the type of tourism, there is a clear preference for the themes of ‘families’, ‘wellness/health’ and ‘sustainability’. The respondents see the most important challenges as being the renovation of the existing mountain railway facilities, the expansion and refurbishment of the thermal baths, and the expansion of hiking trails and gastronomic offerings in the destination. In addition, a majority would like to see better information and more say in tourism projects.
Promoting the year-round destination: Leukerbad Marketing AG and Masterplan Torrent
At a strategic level, all preparations have been made to enable the new Leukerbad Marketing AG (LMAG) to commence operations at the beginning of May 2025. LMAG is now responsible for marketing the destination in the Swiss market, organising events and guest entertainment, and serving as a point of contact for local destination partners. With the Torrent Master Plan, Torrent Railways is working on the further development of tourism in Torrent. On the one hand, the aim is to renew the existing infrastructure in order to ensure the safe and economical operation of the railways in the future. On the other hand, the aim is to create offers that enable year-round operation and thus strengthen the positioning as a year-round destination. The measures are to be implemented in stages, with the first projects due to be completed by 2030 and full implementation by 2050. In the reporting year, the focus was on providing information and involving stakeholders. Among other things, a project website and a direct communication channel were set up for this purpose. The initial preparatory work for the planning approval process for the renovation of the Torrentalp–Rinderhütte facility is also underway.
Outlook: New cooperation and changes to the Board of Directors
Leukerbad is one of the first destinations in Switzerland to join the Indy Ski Pass network. This is an association of over 270 independent ski resorts worldwide, 13 of which are in Europe. The Indy Pass complements the existing offer: while the Magic Pass mainly appeals to guests from Switzerland, the Indy Pass opens up additional opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. Urs Zurbriggen, CEO of My Leukerbad AG, says: "Joining the Indy Pass strengthens our profile as a versatile winter sports destination. We are delighted that this will also give international guests attractive access to Leukerbad and our offerings." Following the resignation of the previous Chairman of the Board of Directors, Roland Zegg, local entrepreneur and tourism expert Wolfgang Loretan is taking over as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Until recently, Loretan was co-owner and director of Gemmi Bahnen, which includes a restaurant and hotel, and knows the destination inside out. The new Chairman of the Board of Directors explains: ‘I am very much looking forward to this task, because the further development of Leukerbad is also a personal matter close to my heart. Together with the other members of the Board of Directors and the operational management of My Leukerbad AG, we will continue to ensure that we consistently pursue the successful path we have embarked upon and achieve our strategic goals.’ Also new to the Board of Directors are Ralph Lorenz, Vice-President of the Municipality of Leukerbad, and Graziella Collenberg, Councillor of Leukerbad. They replace Beat Rieder and Nestor Grichting, who did not stand for re-election. The Board of Directors and the Executive Board of My Leukerbad AG wish Wolfang Loretan a good start in his new position and thank Roland Zegg for his great commitment, foresight and entrepreneurial vision, with which he has had a significant impact on Leukerbad in recent years.
