Leukerbad looks forward to a winter with new highlights
Leukerbad freut sich auf einen Winter mit neuen Highlights
Leukerbad, 02/12/2025 – On Saturday, 6 December 2025, Leukerbad will kick off this year's winter season with an extended pre-season weekend. Among the most important new features for winter 2025/26 are membership of the international Indy Pass ski network, the free ‘Kids on Ski’ programme for families and the innovative Sunset Editions music format on Torrent.
The exceptionally good snow conditions make it possible: the Torrent ski area will be open for two pre-season weekends from 6 to 8 December 2025 and from 13 to 14 December 2025. From Friday, 19 December 2025, the Leukerbad mountain railways will commence regular winter operations. The 2025/26 winter season will last until 12 April 2026. The Gemmi cable cars will be in operation from 20 December 2025 to 19 April 2026. The Erli snow park in the village will be open continuously from 13 December 2025 to 22 March 2026.
Guests will once again benefit from the dynamic pricing model: those who book their ski tickets early will receive discounted day and multi-day passes. The tickets include automatic insurance and can be conveniently purchased online. With the Winter Card, guests also have unlimited use of the Gemmi and Torrent mountain railways and the public thermal baths in Leukerbad throughout the winter.
Indy Pass: skiing fun for international guests
Starting this winter season, Leukerbad will be one of the first destinations in Switzerland to join the Indy Pass network. This is an association of over 270 independent ski resorts worldwide, 13 of which are in Europe. With the Indy Pass, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy two free days of skiing per resort. The new ski pass complements the existing offer in Leukerbad: while the Magic Pass mainly appeals to guests from Switzerland, the Indy Pass opens up additional opportunities for guests from all over the world. Further information can be found here.
‘Kids on Ski’: free access to winter sports for the little ones
Leukerbad is a family-friendly winter sports destination. In addition to the popular snow park in the centre of the village with five beginner lifts, the destination is now part of the ‘Kids on Ski’ programme. This allows children aged three to five to discover skiing for free and in a playful way. The offer includes five half-day ski lessons at the local ski school, six days of ski hire and seven nights' accommodation for the child in their parents' room at selected hotels. Details of the programme can be found here.
Sunset Editions and Winter Acts: musical enjoyment with a view
The new Sunset Editions music format invites guests to end the winter day at the Panoramabar on Torrent once a month with selected DJ sets, drinks and barbecue. The après-ski fun at 2,300 metres above sea level begins at sunset and allows guests to enjoy music with a panoramic view.
In addition to Sunset Editions, Winter Acts will take place for the second time this winter. The free concert series on Torrent begins on 13 December 2025 with a performance by artist RichieSoul and ends on 11 April 2026 with a concert by hip-hop collective PerPlex. The Winter Acts offer talented and established artists from the Swiss music scene a unique stage in the middle of the ski resort. Admission to all concerts is free.
Summer review: growth in all areas
My Leukerbad AG can look back on a very successful 2025 summer season, recording overall growth of 7.9% in visitor numbers across all areas compared with the previous year. While first-time admissions to the Leukerbad Therme increased by 6.3%, the mountain railways grew by 14.6%. The results for the Sportarena were also encouraging, with 10.1% more visitors than in 2024.
Both the Leukerbad Thermal Baths and the Torrent Cable Cars set new records for visitor numbers in the summer. A comparison with the other stations in the Magic Pass network shows that Leukerbad, with the Torrent Cable Cars and the Gemmi Cable Cars, ranks fourth in terms of first-time visitors in the summer of 2025.
The destination also experienced its best summer season in years in terms of overnight stays. Only the figures from the Covid summer of 2021 were slightly better. Overall, Leukerbad recorded 20,631 more overnight stays than in the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 8.7%. All types of accommodation (hotels, holiday apartments, camping and holiday camps) counted more guests than in summer 2024. A look at the guests' countries of origin shows that the markets developed very well, particularly in Europe (+12%). There was also positive development in the domestic market of Switzerland (+3.5%), while the overseas markets of Asia/North America remained at the previous year's level.
